Following Cyclone Garance, which caused severe damage in Réunion Island, the Presbyterian Church of Mauritius, through its Moderator, Mr. Eddy Rocvès, sent a message of solidarity and fraternity to the President of the Protestant Church of Réunion.
“We have learned of the flooding of the manse and the place of worship in St Denis…
United in prayer, we rise stronger with Christ’s help.”
In response, the President of the Protestant Church of Réunion, Mr. Nomena Ralibera, wrote:
“I was deeply moved by the expressions of solidarity you extended to us following Cyclone Garance on our island. We went through a very difficult time, but we are beginning to recover thanks to our Lord, and we know your prayers and thoughts have played a part in that.
Even during a time when fear seemed to dominate, we always knew we were not alone in facing this trial… We knew in particular that our sisters and brothers of the Presbyterian Church of Mauritius — so closely connected to our Community — were holding us in their thoughts.
Please accept the heartfelt gratitude and thanks of our Community.”
